InfoNile is a geo journalism platform and cross-border network of more than 500 environmental journalists in the Nile Basin.
We support journalists to report in-depth science and solutions-based stories through data journalism and multimedia formats to shed light on climate and environmental crises in the transboundary river basin.
In 2020/1, our cross-border investigation on large-scale foreign land deals, Sucked Dry, won several continental and global awards for its comprehensive data analysis, geo-visualizations and collaborative model bringing together scientists, journalists, and data wranglers for in-depth reporting.
We further launched the Pandemic Poachers, a cross-border investigation on wildlife trafficking during Covid-19 that involved more than 13 journalists in East Africa.
This session will explore our best practices in journalistic collaborations to produce actionable science stories, and launch a new platform to connect journalists and scientists in the Nile Basin.
