This session will explore how InfoNile geo-journalists in DRC, Burundi and Rwanda are telling new stories on issues of clean water in a water-rich region, through photojournalism, investigative reporting, and data visualisations.
A photojournalist from DRC tells how he captured water issues during the volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo. The Chronicles team share their unique model of conducting hard-hitting investigations in Rwanda and how an investigation into the cross-border trade of clean water from Gisenyi, Rwanda to Goma, DRCongo led the government to take action. A team of young data journalists from Burundi share their data mining and visualisation strategies to tell water stories in Burundi, including exposing failures in hydro-dams and the challenges of farmers during the pandemic.
