Dimitri is a freelance environmental writer based in Colombia. His work mainly focuses on Latin America and covers issues such as climate, biodiversity conservation, sustainable business, and the cultural and territorial rights of Indigenous and Afro-descendent communities.
His work has been featured in Mongabay, BBC, The Guardian, Deutsche Welle, among others. Dimitri is also currently pursuing a one-year post-graduate degree in the environment and local development at Francisco José De Caldas District University in Bogotá, Colombia.
His investigative thesis explores how the traditional producers of viche, an ancestral alcoholic drink from Colombia’s Pacific coast, can remain the primary beneficiaries of the product in the face of increased demand, regulation and outside interest.
