Empowering Excellence: SJF23 – Where Transformative Thought Leaders Redefine Best Practices!

[Dubai, 22/10/2023] — In its fourth consecutive year, the Science Journalism Forum (SJF23), organised by SciCommX, is set to be a highlight in the realm of science journalism. With an emphasis on unity and the exchange of insights in the face of modern challenges, this event promises to be one of the largest and most diverse international gathering of science journalists.

In a heartfelt tribute, SJF23 dedicates this edition to the late scientific journalist Mohammed Yahia, whose enduring influence continues to inspire. The opening session will serve as a touching remembrance, featuring his wife.

SJF23 will welcome a wide spectrum of backgrounds, including journalists, communicators, writers, publishers, students, and academics. The event will run from October 23 to 26, 2023, offering discussions in five languages: English, French, Arabic, Spanish, and Portuguese.

In collaboration with leading science journalist associations worldwide, the forum boasts a rich program spanning a broad array of topics and tracks, such as: How Can Science Journalism Survive? the Art of Pitching & Freelancing, Safety for Science Reporters, tips for new science editors, AI in the Newsroom, Humanizing Science Stories, and much more.

SJF23 proudly partners with new sponsors to bring attendees a fully packed agenda, featuring over 20 sessions presented by more than 60 expert speakers. Collaborations with EurekAlert! and the National Association of Science Writers provide fellowships to support aspiring science journalists and media students entering the field.

Under the theme ‘Seeking Best Practices,’ SJF23 has curated a program aimed at empowering journalists and editors with wisdom from industry leaders. The event will reflect on lessons from the past four years, share transformative insights from thought leaders, spotlight emerging skills and tools in science journalism, and celebrate the diverse best practices that fuel this industry.

The challenges and opportunities in the field of science journalism are ever-evolving, and SJF23 is poised to set a new standard. We extend an invitation to journalists, editors, academics, scientists, and industry experts from all corners of the globe to join us in this unparalleled gathering. Together, we will explore, learn, and grow, enhancing our ability to communicate science effectively to the world.
