About Teresa Sofia Pereira Dias de Castro

Teresa Sofia Castro is a Professor and Researcher at Lusófona University and a member of the Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies – CICANT. She coordinates the Famílias iTech project within the scope of her CEEC Individual funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. She is co-coordinator of the Youth, News and Digital Citizenship – YouNDigital project (PTDC/COM-OUT/0243/2021) and since 2019 has been collaborating on the ‘Educational centres with digital and civic skills’ project – DiCi-Educa (Co-funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and in partnership with the Directorate-General for Reintegration and Prison Services).

She did her post-doctorate at NOVA University Lisbon (2017-2022), and her European PhD at the University of Minho (2015), both with a Foundation for Science and Technology grant. Her research crosses the areas of Education and Digital Media Studies, focusing on the digital lives of children and young people, digital mediation, socio-technical studies, ethics and digital citizenship.
