There is ample scope for a much stronger and impactful collaboration, where scientists support journalists in defining investigative methodologies and journalists give scientists not only credit but full recognition of their key role within a democratic and well informed society. Encouraging scientists-science journalists co-creation environments could be spurred in early career stages for both professionals, even on the undergraduate level, allowing critical thinking, mutual understanding and learning, which ultimately can reflect in more engaging, reliable and credible science journalism products and sources and their preparedness for this post-truth era.
