Producing a podcast in French-speaking Africa: challenge and perspectives

Producing a podcast in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa is a major challenge if it is to be of good quality and appeal to broadcasters, funders and advertisers.

These are thematic challenges because it is necessary to make sure that the chosen theme meets a certain demand. These are also technical challenges because you have to make sure that the sound quality of the elements is good to satisfy the audience. There are finally financial challenge because funding must be found to produce the program over time…

This session is a kind of case study which will consist in sharing the experience of the French language edition of SciDev.Net which, since 2019, has been producing a podcast broadcast on its website and by several radio stations in 13 countries of the continent.
