The nonhuman animal representation in the press

Portuguese Track

Desciption

This workshop aims to reflect on the issue of nonhuman animals’ representation in the press and how media coverage can impact their ways of living. In a scenario of human and nonhuman animal relationship revision, our goal is to discuss the inclusion of more-than-human animals in the sphere of journalists’ ethical concerns and how to update the practices and research in this area to build a non-speciesist model of news production. We will also address the importance of specialized sources and public opinion intervention in constructing this new paradigm.
