University Radios for what? The black hole of science communication

Spanish Track

Desciption

Scientific journalism in Argentina on radio has little development and even less on university radio stations. Radio remains a powerful and effective medium for communicating news, cultural, educational and entertainment information. Her ability to captivate the audience and stimulate the imagination makes her unique. Furthermore, radio has the advantage of being accessible to a wide variety of people, as it does not require sophisticated devices or an Internet connection, making it an inclusive medium. There are radio programs dedicated to the dissemination and analysis of scientific topics. Scientific dissemination is important to bring science closer to society and promote understanding of complex scientific issues. These proposals should be natural on university radio to publicize what these research centers do with public funds for the society. Science on the radio interests audiences. University radio stations have a great challenge.
In this session, Sergio will focus on:
– Raising awareness about the possibilities of science on the radio
– Call the attention of university managers to their radios and the lack of science communication proposals Interest the university communication offices and managers
– Promote the idea that science is fully suitable and interesting content for university radio.
