About Helena Kreineseik

Helena Kreiensiek is a journalist and international media trainer from Germany with a focus on environmental, political and social topics. She has lived and worked in East Africa and the Middle East. Her main region of expertise is East Africa, namely Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Uganda.

She holds a Master’s degree in International Crimes, Criminology and Conflict from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and a Bachelor degree in International Politics and History from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. Over the past year she was part of the InfoNile cross-border geodata-journalism grant on water stories around the river Nile and covered the issues surrounding the river Nile in Burundi.
