J Sam Daniel Stalin, an award winning senior television journalist and news anchor is a household name in India and the diaspora, for credible, unbiased and ethical television news reporting.

A seasoned Television Journalist with twenty two years of reporting, editorial and leadership experience I am the face of NDTV in Tamil Nadu, heading the Chennai bureau. Part of the core team in south, I have contributed to enhancing quality of reportage and increasing the channel’s viewership. Many of my reports have had impacts, bringing relief and justice to affected communities, have forced government intervention and have brought about change of systems.

I was the first to report from ground zero when the Tsunami struck India’s Nagapattinam. I’ve covered nine elections, interviewed a range of candidates, law makers including Union Ministers and Chief Ministers.

I’ve reported from the US and European countries.

I also anchor news segments, co-anchor shows, do live reports and interviews and contribute to many flagship programmes on NDTV.

I’ve interviewed a range of national and international leaders, sports champions, nobel laureates, celebrities and newsmakers; have addressed a Ted X meet and mentored more than fifty budding journalists.

I’m a British Chevening Scholar, International Visitor Leadership Programme Alumnus, The Media Project Fellow, and Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange Scholar. I’ve also been chosen for several international fellowships in the US, UK, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Nepal. I’m also the recipient of the Excellence Leadership Award – Electronic Media in 2015. Recently I was given the “”Global Tamils Media Icon Award””.

An Alumnus of the premier Madras Christian College, University of Westminster and Poynter Institute, I’ve a five year experience in teaching English and Journalism in colleges as well.
