About John Danial

Dr Danial is a postdoctoral research associate in the group of Professor Sir David Klenerman in the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge and a College Research Associate at King’s College, Cambridge.

He was previously a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and the University of Tuebingen and completed his D.Phil. in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Oxford.

Dr Danial develops advanced light nano-scopes to image the toxic protein aggregates formed in the brain of patients with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases. With this, he aims to diagnose brain diseases at their early stages, before the manifestation of clinical symptoms, to increase drug efficacy and improve lives.

Dr Danial is also the founder and CEO of the Arab Science Form (ASF), a young initiative meant to bring the best of the Arab world’s scientific talent together to advance science in the Middle East. The Arab Science Forum is the parent organization of Maqal Elmy, an online platform operated by members of the ASF with the aim of making science accessible to the Arab-speaking world and inspiring the next generation of world-leading Arab scientists.
