About Manon Verchot

Manon Verchot is a Co-Founder and Editor of In Old New, a media organisation that supports the journalism ecosystem through stories and trainings. She started her journalism career after completing her Masters at Columbia Journalism School at a number of environment publications, including TreeHugger and ClimateWire.

In 2016, she made the leap to India, where she joined media start-up The Quint as its first environment correspondent. Though her early years were spent primarily as a print journalist, she quickly began exploring video formats like explainers, livestreams and ground reports in her time at The Quint.

In 2017, she was hired to run the Mobile and Video team at Hindustan Times and later took over the video team at Mint too.

In 2019, Manon joined Mongabay, a non-profit newsroom focused on environment and conservation news, where she headed the video operations. During her tenure, she launched a number of new video formats for the organisation, like explainers, educational videos and more. Since then, Manon has launched her own venture, In Old News.

She has always been passionate about making multimedia skills more accessible to journalists, so making time to train and mentor other journalists has always been a priority in her career.
