About Mohamed El-Hawwary

Mohamed El-Hawary Editor-in-Chief, Al-Fanar Media (UK) Media Development and Newsroom Management Expert With over 15 years of experience in training, consulting, and preparing journalistic and media cadres, Mohamed El-Hawary has trained hundreds of journalists in Egypt and the Arab world. Since 2003, his experience in journalism spans print, digital, television, multimedia, and podcasting.

He has also worked in specialized fields such as science journalism, investigative reporting, in-depth interviews, and feature journalism. He has conducted hundreds of stories, interviews, in-depth investigations, TV episodes, and podcasts, covering numerous events inside and outside Egypt. Notable events include the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague, Netherlands, the preparations for the COP15 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and representing Egypt and the Middle East in a media delegation to Japan.

He has also covered events in Jordan, Kuwait, Finland, France, and the United States. Specializes in training skills for managing digital, integrated, and television newsrooms. Additionally, he trains in various other specialties, including in-depth interview skills, feature journalism, science communication, media literacy, solutions journalism, and TV production skills. He has also contributed to the preparation of several training manuals.

His diverse expertise as a media development expert has enabled him to provide image management and content management consultations for institutions, public figures, and international projects. He has provided training services to several Egyptian, Arab, and international organizations, including the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in Germany, the German international cooperation agency (GIZ), Free Press Unlimited (Netherlands), Free Voice (Netherlands), Deutsche Welle Akademie (Germany), Ford Foundation (USA), and the Arab Media Forum in Kuwait.

Delivered training programs in partnership with various Egyptian, Arab, and international ministries and organizations, including USAID, WHO, the British Embassy in Jordan, the Egyptian Ministries of Youth and Sports, and Culture, and the Kamal Adham Center for TV and Digital Journalism at the American University in Cairo. Editor-in-Chief of Al-Fanar Media (UK), a leading institution covering higher education and scientific research in the Arab world in both Arabic and English. Over more than ten years, he has worked in TV production and Script writing, including as Editor-in-Chief of Al-Masry Al-Youm bulletin on Al-Qahera Wal Nas channel, the “Fi Al-Midan” program on Al-Tahrir channel, Managing Editor of the “Akhir Kalam” program on ON TV, “Sa’a Masriya” on Rotana Masriya channel, “Masr Fi Youm” on Dream channel, and “Bain Noqtatein” on TEN channel. Founded Al-Fanar Media podcast and has a social podcast titled “Matza’alsh” on the PodU platform.

He also participated in presenting episodes of the “Friendly Space” podcast, produced by CARE International Egypt, and is an ambassador for the Aswatona Podcast Network, supported by the German Foreign Ministry. Lecturer of TV Production Projects for Master’s students at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University. Board Member of the International Media & Intercultural Communication Centre, Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University.
