About Nalaka Gunawardene

Nalaka Gunawardene is a former journalist who now works as a communication consultant focusing on communication strategizing, media sector policy/regulatory reforms, media development and digital rights.

Trained as a science writer, Nalaka worked as a journalist in print, broadcast and web media at national and Asian regional levels. He made a career out of asking questions, connecting dots and straddling different spheres in pursuit of the public interest. At various times in his media career, he has been a news reporter, feature writer, science editor, radio and TV host, and foreign correspondent. Later, he served as a Sunday columnist for three national newspapers in Sri Lanka, and wrote a South Asia column for SciDev.Net in 2014-17.
