About Raghida Haddad

Raghida Haddad, from Lebanon, executive editor of Al-Bia Wal-Tanmia (Environment & Development), the leading pan-Arab environment magazine (paper edition 1996-2017). A biologist and senior lecturer on environmental journalism at the Lebanese University, she was regional coordinator of the World Federation of Science Journalists’ peer-to-peer mentoring program (SjCOOP).

In 2009, Raghida Haddad won the Earth Journalism Award for her journey to the Arctic, covering the international scientific expedition onboard the Canadian research icebreaker Amundsen. She was the first Arab journalist to navigate for two weeks in the Arctic Ocean, getting first-hand experience of global warming where it is unfolding the fastest, and to relay this experience to readers throughout the Arab region.

Raghida Haddad is a founding member of the Lebanese Association of Appropriate Technology (LATA) and of Lebanon Mountain Trail Association.
