About Sofía Cabrera Espín

SOFÍA CABRERA ESPÍN Education PhD in Logic and Philosophy of Science from the University of Salamanca. Master’s in Social Studies of Science and Technology from the University of Salamanca. Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the Central University of Ecuador.

Experience She currently leads the scientific outreach project at the Escuela Politécnica del Litoral, ESPOL Divulga.

She is the host of the scientific and cultural outreach Web Show “”Repensando el Mañana Ecuador”” by Fundación Telefónica Movistar Ecuador. Researcher at the Interuniversity Observatory of Ecuadorian Media (OIME). Co-founder and Coordinator of KUNA, a community of disseminators of scientific and ancestral knowledge in Ecuador. She has been involved in scientific outreach activities in Ecuador and Spain for over 10 years. She has served as a university lecturer at UTE University, the University of the Americas (UDLA), and the Regional Amazonian University IKIAM.

National and international trainer in proposals on university scientific outreach. Her research areas are: scientific outreach in universities, the impact of social media on scientific outreach, analysis of social perception of science and technology, and science, technology, and society.
