About Venura Herath

Venura Herath is a professor at the University of Peradeniya where he studies how plants respond to various environmental conditions using novel genomic approaches. He also served as a postdoc at Texas A&M University studying how viruses trigger ER stress.

As a PhD student at the University of Maine, he studied the gene regulatory networks involved in plant responses to low-temperature stress conditions.

In addition to research and teaching, he is passionate about tackling the virally circulating fearmongering pseudoscientific content on social media and other media streams.
