About Vivian Atakos

Currently, I work for the CGIAR – the world’s largest global agricultural research organization whose mission is to deliver science and innovation that advance the food systems in a climate crisis. My role entails facilitating conversations that bring evidence to policymakers, innovation to partners, and new tools to harness the economic, environmental, and nutritional power of agriculture. I am based out of Nairobi, Kenya.

I pride myself in the ability to find and use the right communication strategies and tools to engage different partners from policymakers, researchers to development partners and farmers. I synthesize complex scientific concepts such as climate change adaptation and mitigation, gender equality in food systems research, building resilience, and food security and bringing these to the attention of decision-makers —skills that have set me apart from the pool of communicators in the region.
