Yasmine Jabali is a dedicated professional with a strong background in Analytical Chemistry/Chemistry of the Environment. Having obtained her Ph.D. from the esteemed University of Strasbourg in France, she currently serves as an assistant professor at the University of Balamand, where she imparts her knowledge in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering through a diverse range of courses. In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Jabali is a versatile individual who excels in various domains.
She is a co-founder of Mruna, a prominent urban resilience consulting firm operating in the UAE and Lebanon. In this role, she leads the development of decentralized nature-based sanitation infrastructure solutions that foster collaboration among civil, sanitation, and environmental engineering professionals. By reshaping cities’ approach to water management, Dr. Jabali actively contributes to the transition from a linear to a circular model, maximizing the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Furthermore, Dr. Jabali is the co-founder and advisor of the UOB-LEWAP student chapter, the first of its kind dedicated to water resources topics. Through this initiative, she collaborates closely with students and practitioners to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world applications in the field of water resources. Additionally, as a co-founder of BIOwayste, she has successfully developed a decentralized and economically viable renewable energy solution that transforms organic waste into energy.
In recognition of her leadership, Dr. Jabali won the Times Higher Education Award 2023 for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership for her work on the 1 Million Action Postcards initiative. This achievement further underscores her impact on the global stage in advancing sustainability efforts.
