Science Journalism Forum is convening for the second year

[Dubai, 30 August 2021] For the second year, Science Journalism Forum is launching its events virtually with a huge gather of attendees, from all around the globe, discussing capacity building and challenges facing science journalism during the pandemic era.

Convening from 30 August till 2 September, SJF21 is presenting 6 different tracks, like ethics, under reported issues, and emerging Technologies in the journalism field.

SciCommX is proud to bring SJF21 as a fully virtual global event for science journalists, writers, publishers, scientists, students, and academia, in five different languages, Arabic, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

“This year we are having a fully packed agenda with about 77 sessions, presented by more than 160 speakers”, says Saad Lotfey the CEO of ScicommX, and the co-founder of SJF.

Lotfey adds that SJF21 registered attendees reached over 1300 with the launching, from over 100 countries around the world, with a great share from the developing countries.

“SJF was a dream for me as a Science journalist from the developing world, to secure an opportunity to exchange experience with colleagues from all around the world for every science journalist”, says Bothina Osama, SJF co-founder.

Osama flagged up that one of the distinguished activities in SJF21 is ‘Meet the Editor’ sessions that will be held in English and Spanish with the help of The Open Notebook. At this activity the journalists and particularly the freelancers are able to present preliminary story pitches to editors from numerous international publications.

Lotfey assured that SJF21 wasn’t possible with out the help of more than 35 partners, helped both in building the conference content and in securing the attendance of as many journalists as possible through offering fellowships.
