The main objective of the proposed session on vaccine equity is to highlight the role science journalism can play at this critical stage when vaccine equity stands at the crossroads of a major change and the key questions that journalism can raise to define this relationship between nations in the path towards the new vaccine equity.

We will discuss:

– vaccine access in South Asia
– hurdles to the path of ensuring equity in access to vaccines
– benefits of increasing vaccine manufacturing and distributing it evenly around the world
– Role of the media in facilitating vaccine equity.

The proposed session will also discuss the need for patent waiver on COVID 19 vaccines, not only for the benefit of resource-challenged countries but for the world at large, and the role journalism can play in the narrative on patent waiver and the decisions of countries on this issue.
