What are the most pressing issues in different world regions today – and how can science journalism shed light on the problems and solutions? From the ripple effects of the war on Ukraine to climate change, disease outbreaks and migration, the world is in the midst of multiple crises that affect the daily lives of millions of people. At the same time, each region may not experience these pressures in the same way, or may be faced with different priorities.
This panel discussion will explore how today’s global challenges play out in different parts of the world – from Latin America to the Middle East and Asia-Pacific – and it will identify areas where coverage of scientific research or perspectives can offer evidence-based understanding of the challenges and potential ways to overcome them. The panel will be made up of editors or senior journalists from Africa, MENA, South Asia, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, who will offer their insights on the science stories journalists could pitch to explore key issues for their region.
