Angelica Y. Yang is a reporter based in Manila, Philippines. She covers the energy and environment beats for BusinessWorld, the country’s oldest business newspaper. She also specializes in science journalism and media analysis.
She is a recipient of numerous awards including the 2019 Chit Estella Student Journalism Research Award for her study on science journalism in the Philippines; the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Bantog: The Science for the People Media Awards 2018 in the “outstanding science and technology media practitioner for online” category; and the 2018 UP Science Journalism Award for best science news story.
She is a three-time fellow of global non-profit Climate Tracker’s environment reporting (2017), media research (2020) and sustainability solutions reporting (2020) programs.
In her college days, she worked as a freelance lifestyle and science & technology journalist for several mainstream media outlets in the Philippines. Her stories have appeared in the Philippine Daily Inquirer, GMA News Online, Rappler, and ABS-CBN News.
