Cristina Tardáguila is a senior journalist focused on combating mis/disinformation. She is the founder of Lupa, the largest fact-checking organization in Brazil, and works as a research consultant for Equis Institute, in the United States. Tardáguila studied Journalism at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), obtained a master’s degree in Journalism from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain, and earned an MBA in Digital Marketing from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-Rio).
Throughout her career as a reporter and editor, she has worked for O Globo, Folha de S.Paulo, Globo.com, and revista piauí. Tardáguila was the Associate Director of the International Fact-Checking Network, at the Poynter Institute, and a Senior Program Director at the International Center for Journalists.
