About Saffron Howden
Saffron Howden is a veteran journalist, author and media literacy advocate.
She founded and edited Australia’s national newspaper for young people, Crinkling News, and co-authored a book teaching children journalism and media literacy skills called Kid Reporter: The Secret to Breaking News.
Saffron was a Google News Initiative Teaching Fellow and developed a digital citizenship curriculum for Facebook Asia Pacific. She’s worked on academic research into young people’s media literacy levels and the needs of rural and regional journalists. Saffron is currently the national editorial trainer for Australian Community Media (ACM), responsible for training journalists across dozens of regional newsrooms.
